American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) Brand Standards
Client: The JDC is the world’s leading Jewish humanitarian assistance organization. JDC works in more than 70 countries and in Israel to alleviate hunger and hardship, rescue Jews in danger, create lasting connections to Jewish life, and provide immediate relief and long-term development support for victims of natural and man-made disasters.
Challenge: The 95 year-old JDC brand was fragmented with many quirky subbrands, inconsistent collateral, often altered logo and a varied communications approach from country to country
Solution: To compensate for global language issues, I designed the standards to be easily understood visually, and developed a clear and vibrant color hierarchy for all JDC activities and countries. The manual is an examplar of the evolved brand, and I also designed numerous on-brand communications pieces (and templates) to further show the color, typography and grid systems in action.
All pieces are based on a ratio-based grid thatI developed to ensure that any size of paper (which varies from country to country with local printing considerations) could be used whilst maintaining the brand layout correctly.
